No MP3 player looks and feels better than the touch! Measuring 4.3 by 2.4 by 0.3-inches (HWD) and weighing in at 4.1 ounces, the device is, as always, dominated by its luscious 3.5-inch glass touch-screen. With a 480-by-320 resolution, the display is the best in the business!
Music on IPod
The iPod Touch includes external speakers which allow you to listen to music even without headphones. It is much easier to select “Playlists”, “Artists”, “Songs”, and “Albums” as the options all appear on the bottom and a quick touch takes you right where you want to be… much easier than turning the wheel on the old iPod to choose an option. Once you are in a category, a quick swipe of the finger allows you to travel through all of your songs, faster and easier than ever before.
Apple also introduced the “Genius” which automatically finds songs in your iPod that sounds good together and makes playlists and mixes… just another great option if you choose to use it. The 32 GB and 64 GB versions also come with voice control which is found right in your headphones! Just press a button and say: “Play [Song]” or “Play [Artist]” and the iPod listens! You don’t even have to take it out of your pocket.
Cover flow is another great feature. Turn your touch on its side and glide through your music by album art with the flick of your finger. Tap an album cover to flip it over and display a track list. Tap again to start the music.
You like having your music library on shuffle? Just shake the iPod and it will randomly select a song. Shake it again, and it will select another song! Do you like a song and want to buy it but you aren’t by a computer? Simply connect to the iTunes stores via the built in Wi-Fi and buy the song right from your iPod! Next time you connect your iPod to your computer, the song will transfer to your music library. It’s that simple!

The iPod touch really does resemble a pocket computer, giving the world to your fingertips. The built in Wi-Fi allows you to connect to the internet from any place that has wireless access. Hotels, schools, restaurants… virtually anywhere nowadays! Your iPod comes equipped with Safari – the web browsing program designed for Macs, so you can view any website you want and it’s almost identical to how you could see it on your computer!
The iPod Touch has a separate button for Mail, so all you have to do is register an email account (choose from Microsoft Exchange, MobileMe, Gmail, Yahoo, Aol, and more) and you can check your mail by pressing one button! How convenient is that? I use it all the time to check my mail for internship opportunities, class updates, and even to send emails with picture attachments to friends! It’s ridiculously easy and extremely convenient! The Touch also has separate buttons for Youtube, Weather, and Maps! Apple really took our most used websites and created buttons out of them!

Of course, the things that made the iPod Touch famous – the applications. You know those commercials for the iPhone that show you something really cool and convenient and then say “There is an app for that?” I never knew how true those are until I started using my Touch. There are literally thousands of applications, helping you do anything you do better. The App store, which can be accessed right from the Touch, has apps for everyone!
Do you like Sports? I have an application that shows me all the scores from every sport. I even selected my favorite teams in each sport so those scores show up first! Do you travel a lot? I have an application that shows me the places around me that have Wi-Fi! And then it tells me whether it is free or paid, and how to get to that place!
I also have an application that shows me the gas stations in my area with the cheapest gas! Maybe my Touch will pay for itself.
One of my favorite apps is called “UrbanSpoon” – I can choose my location, the type of food I want, and the price range, and it finds me restaurants that match those criteria! Chinese, Mediterranean, Mexican or more… My stomach and wallet will be full thanks to UrbanSpoon.
I also have an application that translates words in over 20 languages! Do you need to stay connected via social media? I have a Facebook, LinkedIn, AIM, and Skype applications! I stay connected with all of my friends from all over the world, no matter where I am!
And of course there are thousands of game applications. From basic games like Piano playing, Chess, and bubble wrap, to war games, NBA live and racing games… the Touch has EVERYTHING! Buyers beware… you might get very addicted to some of the games.
